“We were determined to make the venues somewhere that really represented us. We chose the State Theatre Centre, because Matt, Andy, and I would often buy gelato nearby, then hang out together in there while we ate it. And we chose Gordon Street Garage because we often go there together for coffees and lunches, but we also just love the aesthetic of the space.”

“It just had to represent us and our personalities as best as possible. We really felt that we achieved this. We wanted to create a fun and happy atmosphere, with a touch of class. By choosing personal venues, along with the additions of fun things like the gelato cart and the jazz trio really helped to achieve this.”

“Marriage is the opportunity to identify as our own independent family unit. It is important to me that we are recognised as each other’s family, both socially and legally. A partner is the one family member that you get to choose, and I choose Matt.”

“Very much like Amanda said with an extra point: To me, it also means being able to officially call Andy my stepson. I know it’s just a silly thing, but it will be nice to have a recognised relationship that’s not just “my fiancé’s son”.”

Advice for other couples planning a Wedding from Amanda and Matt—“Don’t give yourself anything to do on the day. Make sure all tasks have been allocated to someone then literally forget about them! What will be, will be. And you’ll enjoy your day so much more if you can relax, and just go with it.”
